This is in response to the issue of Taiwan.
Elections are coming in Taiwan and this may be some sabre rattling. Curiously, we''ve decided to let China have millions of dollars and world attention by letting them host the Olympics in 2008? I think we can expect them to behave until then, it''s afterwards that concerns me.

Please read my post about China. I think they will wait to see if a bleeding heart liberal (Clinton) or a weak conservative (McCain) gets in office. Also take note of Ezek. 38...Syria? What do you think? Jbear

well certainly in 2008 they'll have a new president to deal with. I think I'm holding out for J. Bush. I don't think the US is ready for someone like Hillary. Gog and Magog in Ex 38, have often been thought of as Russia, not China. On the map it shows that China is directly east of Israel, not north. They are on the same latitude. Russia has been a largly athiestic country from the beginning. They continue to support countries in the middle east and N. Korea by selling them weapons and other things.

Yeah, I had read up on it, then I had to go out of town for a week and didn't get back to it. If I remember right,
    1) more than one person called Moses a master theologian, so most are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt by understanding that Moses had a purpose by placing a second story there, even if they, after thousands of years can't figure out why.
    2) It could be that Moses wrote down what God told him and then Moses rewrote it for his own people because he didn't think they'd understand it as he and God did.

Now don't hold me to all of that just yet. I'll read about it again once I have a few hours.

"If way back long ago someone inserted their own thoughts or twists on the stories, then the whole book becomes untrustworthy."

    and,

"It could be that Moses wrote down what God told him and then Moses rewrote it for his own people because he didn't think they'd understand it as he and God did."

The second sentence seems to indicate that Moses made the entire Bible untrustowirthy because 'way back long ago someone [Moses] inserted their own thoughts or twists on the stories [the version more understandable to the people], then the whole book becomes untrustworthy.'
I guess that leaves you to defend the position that people do not know why Moses had two stories after thousands of years of study. It would also be interesting to hear why the first story uses a different style, and names God differently than the second story does (Transliterated to Yahweh and Elohim), styles which are not necessarily contemporaneous to each other (occurred at different times) or of different sources (J, E, P).
